	September Opening Retreat By Andrew Greene, Fairport High School

We of the LLC went on our opening retreat the weekend of the eighth of September, meeting each other and learning about community leadership in a plethora of ways. We played an array of games that spanned from directing blind-folded members to a destination without touching them or speaking English, to arranging ourselves on a line in specific ways without talking. I’ll never forget the laughs shared by my cabin mates and I late at night!

There were also many lessons to be learned. I personally learned that working in a group could yield excellent results, let’s say, as Sean Covey put it, that 1+1 can equal 3! Whether being lead to success or taking charge ourselves, the retreat helped to put us in perspective of how to reach great heights. I hardly had to keep my eyes open when Rachel Welch was in charge of our group, but there were times when I had to command to bring our group to it’s goal. I’m sure we’re all looking forward to bringing Lake County into the future.
