"I was asked to participate in LLC by my supervisor at work.
I felt honored to be asked to join this prestigious group,

yet I was unsure how right it would be for me. After having completed the program, I can sum up my experience in one word: Awesome! As a Lake county resident, I thought I knew a lot about my county. Yet after each program day I would return home knowing far more than when I left the house that morning. The program does a great job exposing you to the leaders in the county and the challenges that we face to keep Lake County a great place to live, work, and play in. The program has a unique way of energizing you to want to make a difference for the future".

Patrick Splane, The Lubrizol Corporation

"I am so honored to be a Leadership Lake County Graduate. Monthly, I looked forward to engaging and networking with Lake County leaders and learning about Lake County.

Leadership Lake County afforded me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of Lake County history, business, public safety, culture, education, government, human services, and my own professional leadership development. As a result of the experience, I am committed to the social, economic, and civic prosperity of this community and look forward to contributing to the County’s growth."
Deborah Hardy, Lakeland Community College

The LLC experience allows you to see Lake County as a system. I encountered a lifetime of experiences in 12 months. I really don't know of any other way that this could have been accomplished other than with the Leadership Lake County Program.

My position at Crossroads calls for interacting with many different entities; business, government, or human services. Because I am relatively new to Lake County, it was important to build a network of fellow leaders and decision makers in Lake County, and I was able to do this as a result of Leadership Lake County. The LLC program not only met my expectations, it exceeded them.
Christopher Butcher, Crossroads

I loved my Leadership Lake County experience. I heard about LLC from peers and from colleagues in other organizations and all seemed to have enjoyed the experience and benefited.

I am so glad I pursued the opportunity. I met interesting and helpful classmates. I learned about the history of Lake County and about inspiring plans to grow and improve the county. I met leaders I would never have met in my day to day work-ing life. I visited beautiful historic sites, metroparks and learned about services that keep Lake County residents healthy and happy. I listened to successful business men talk about beginnings, past suc-cesses, and plans for the future. As a result of the Leadership Lake County experience, I have a net-work of friends and leaders that I can call upon to help me be a better citizen and leader of Lake County. The year flew by and I will miss the monthly adventures.
Josephine Jones, Lake Health

"My Leadership Lake County experience gave me an opportunity to become more knowledgeable about the county in which I live and work.

The program sessions provided a unique forum to meet leaders from all segments of the community; to learn about the county’s rich past, challenges of the present and exchange ideas for the vision of its future. As a result, I now have a greater appreciation of how I can contribute to the growth and development of the community on both a personal and professional level".

Mary Rossoll, Avery Dennison

"My Leadership Lake County experience was a highlight of the year.

I was in the program’s original planning discussions from day one and have attended the first-day reception and graduation every year since. And I’ve been an "instructor" in several of the classes over the years. I had been at The News-Herald since 1950, so I often wondered, "Could I learn anything from Leadership?" And I told myself, "Probably not." How wrong I was! I learned A LOT every class day. And I never missed a session!  Each day was a huge learning experience. It was most enjoyable and my classmates were great. I not only learned a lot about the county that I didn't know, I also learned a valuable lesson -- never overestimate your knowledge of ANYTHING. You could easily be wrong".

Jim Collins, Lakeland Community College

"A colleague of mine asked me if I would be interested in attending Leadership Lake County.

She told me I would meet very interesting people, learn all about Lake County, make new friends and further develop my network of peopleSince I am living, working and raising my family in Lake County, I thought it was a great idea and signed up, but had no idea what a wonderful experience I was in for. I not only learned about Lake County, I learned about myself. I not only met interesting people, I made lifelong friends that I talk with frequently. I not only further developed my people network; I've developed extended networks in areas that I would not have been exposed to without Leadership Lake County. The experience is a journey about yourself and how you fit, work, live and support Lake County through its rich history, its public safety and justice system, its government, its health and human services, its education, its business, labor, and economy, and its quality of life".
Mark Kaydo, VP Business Banking, Huntington National Bank

"When I joined the LLC program, I didn’t really know what to expect.

I knew that the group promoted leadership in the county but wasn't quite sure what else it did. Now that I’ve completed the program, I can say that Leadership Lake County was a great learning adventure for me! I not only met many wonderful classmates, I met numerous leaders in the county who make Lake County such a rich and vibrant place to live. I recently moved to Lake County and this experience taught me so much about my new home. The marvelous student-constructed programs covered every aspect of living here from the history of the county to the businesses that help create the wonderful mosaic that is Lake County. After every program, I returned home with more information than I ever could have imagined. LLC affirmed my decision to move to Lake County and revealed the beauty and excitement that the county offers. I will miss our monthly outings, but as an alumni representative, I will actively introduce others to this wonderful educational experience".
