Leadership Lake County Youth Programs

The High School Program

The LLC Youth Program provides high school juniors a unique opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at Lake County while developing their leadership skills.

Students come together the first Wednesday of each month to explore a specific aspect of Lake County such as history, business, and public safety and justice.  Each program day is a combination of on site visits, guest speakers and experiential learning experiences.  In addition, students plan and implement a project to support SS KIDS, a project to provide school supplies to students with economic need.  For more information, click here.

Thirty-

Sixth Grade Junior Leadership Academy

The Junior Leadership Academy is open to any sixth grade student who would like the opportunity to work on achieving a goal related to school or a career.  Students meet and work the first Saturday morning or January, February, March and April.  The students work in small groups with high  successful high school mentors whom have graduated from the High School program.  For more information, click here.

SS KIDS

The LLC Youth classes work each year to collect and distribute school supplies to students with economic need.  Students are responsible for creating and implementing a project that will either raise funds or generate supplies for this project.  Leadership Lake County partners with the Salvation Army to distribute supplies to families with economic need throughout our county. In the summer of 2008, nearly 2000 students were served.  This project is led by students to serve students.  Over 5000 students have received supplies since the beginning of this project.  Want to learn more?

Class of 2009

It is almost over!  Isn't that difficult to believe?  It seems like you just met, and at the same time like you have known each other forever.  You have done such a fantastic job with the SS KIDS project.  As we look forward to graduation, this seems like a great time to remind you this is not the end.  Please keep in mind the work that needs to be done to sort and distribute supplies and try to find a way to work that into your summer schedule.  Also, don't forget that you are the foundation for the sixth grade program next year.  Your willingness to give your time and share what you have learned from LLC is what makes that program possible.  Don't worry about loosing sight of these opportunities, I will continue to remind you as the time grows closer.
