Environment- 2008
The Youth Class began its program year
with the exploration of Lake County's environment. The students heard
from Dave Noble, executive director of the Lake Metroparks. Mr. Noble
led an informative discussion about the natural resources in Lake County.
Naturalist, Dan Burnette led the class on a hike of the gorge at
Pennitentiary Glenn. During the hike, Dan discussed the formation of
the region as a result of the glaciers. Along the way, the students
found tadpoles, and salemanders.
The class also had the opportunity to visit the landfill.
The day ended with a trip to the Mentor Marsh and the opportunity to "dip
for aquatic organisms". |
