Signature Program: Madison Public Library Focus Groups
The team was responsible for developing and facilitating eight focus groups to obtain information about what the community knows about the library or what they might want from their public library so that Madison Public Library can best serve all residents of its community.
Signature Program: Lakeland Community College Emerging Leaders Workshop
This was the 3rd year a Signature Class team adopted this project. The team organized a workshop for students participating in Lakeland Community College’s Emerging Leaders program, a learning series designed to build leadership qualities within participants and increase their network of contacts.
Signature Program: Dare2Care Video
The team was tasked with developing the concept, writing the script, directing and editing an impact video showcasing the mission of Dare 2 Care International.
Signature Program: Lake County General Health District 100th Anniversary Marketing Plan
In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Public Health, the LCGHD requested that the team develop a marketing plan to showcase the many offerings of the health district. The goal of the plan was to focus on education of our residents, including social media, monthly events, free programs we offer and any other venues to connect the LCGHD's work to Lake County residents.
Community Builders: Roll-N-Bowl
The Community Builders Class of 2019 held a Roll-N-Bowl event for special needs youth who have attended Camp Sue Osborn. Participants worked together to accomplish all aspects of the project - including fundraising, logistics and labor. The event allowed youth and families to reconnect and enjoy some quality time on the lanes. The class also donated funds to the camp.
Junior Leadership Program: Lake County Prom
The JLP Class of 2019 chose to put on a prom for individuals with developmental disabilities in Lake County. Students formed teams to manage every aspect of the event - the venue, entertainment, apparel, logistics, fundraising and assisting hands-on before, during and after the event to ensure all participants felt included and had a fantastic time. Fundraising was such a success, the class donated $1,000 to Deepwood Foundation to be used at Broadmoor School, $1,000 to Lake Humane Society to assist less-fortunate families with pet adoption, and $400 for future JLP scholarships!
Youth Leadership Academy: Salvation Army SS Kids Program
Middle school students in the Youth Leadership Academy worked together to put on fundraising events at their schools to raise over $3,000 for the Salvation Army's school supply drive. Fun events, including "Penny Wars", "Jail the Teacher" and "Silly String a Teacher" got both staff and students involved!
Annual Alumni Day of Service
At Madison Public Library, volunteers spent a day cleaning out the Library’s new Bookmobile, then selected appropriate books and audiovisual materials for the Library to share with local schools, daycares and other community organizations. Another team of volunteers dedicated a day to cleaning, painting and organizing the garage of Hannah’s Home, which provides a place to stay for pregnant women and mothers of newborn children. The 2nd Annual Day of Service is set for September 28, 2019.
